Understanding the Role of the New Supervisor in Today's Environment
As the Navy Department deals with the challenges of downsizing, force
restructuring, changing technology, under representation of women and
minorities, and changes to Services' roles and missions, it is imperative
that civilian managers be prepared to plan for the future and effectively
manage human and material resources.
As organizations are being "flattened" there are many more occasions
when individuals find themselves in leadership situations such as serving
as work group leader, chairing or facilitating a team, or as supervisors,
managers, and executives with a larger span of control.
